Practical learning

Last term for practical learning we did sewing to make head phone bags. I did a blue material and a black one with dots on it.

I chose these patterns because I wanted to and black and blue are my favourite colours.

The part I found the hardest was trying not to stitch the string to the bag.

The part I liked the most was sowing on my initials

I am really proud of my headphone bag.

WIS visit

On Tuesday last week my class, room 3 and room 1/2 went to WIS.  It was really fun but each group could only do 3 activities. We made name tags out of wood and they layered our names on the wood.

Word art - water

My class made word clouds and the words had to be based on water. These words are other words for water, where water comes from and the sounds the water makes.

Water Cycle

In Room 15 we did a science experiment. We had to get a zip lock bag of  Miss Candish and draw with a sharpie on the bag, we had to draw a sun, the sea and clouds. So when everyone did that we had to full up the bag with water until it was the same height as the sea that we drew. After we finished that we got blue food coloring and  put 2 drops in. Then we waited for a couple hours and then the whole class checked, the water evaporated and turned back into a water droplets and rained back into the rest of the water.

Evaporation- evaporation is when the sun heats up the water and the water turns into a gas
Condensation- condensation is when the gas goes up and forms a cloud.
Precipitation- precipitation is when the cloud gets to heavy and starts to rain.
Collection- collection is when it rains and falls back into the water.

Hockey

Last term every Friday we did Hockey. The first time I did it we had to put the hockey stick up to the ball and dribble it around a cone. The 2nd thing we did, we hit the ball to each other and every time our buddy's hit it to us we had to stop the ball and hit it back.  It has been fun learning new skills.

The Door Writing

In He Puna Kawenga, we had to set the scene in our writing, it was called  ... The Door.Miss Nation said that we had to write with a buddy so I went with Gemma. Here is our writing! Hope you like it!

One lovely spring day, I decided to go for a walk in the forest. As I walked deeper and deeper into the forest, it got darker and darker until it was pitch black. Then out of nowhere I saw a light flickering in the distance, so I crept closer and closer to it.  When I was near enough to the light I saw a dark oak door that was in the middle of 2 tall trees. Looking more carefully at the door, I saw small windows at the top with moss growing around the door frame. The light was coming from the lantern above the door. I stepped towards the door, poked my eye through the keyhole and saw. . .

Keeping NZ clean!

In He Puna Kawenga we went to Fitzherbert Ave to pick up rubbish on the streets. We left school from the side gate. Some people didn't want to go but they had to anyway! Mrs Pedley and Miss Nation had a rubbish bag each so if we found some rubbish we could put it in there. We started walking and we found lots, I mean LOTS of rubbish! EWWW! We found bottle caps, cigarettes and other stuff. When we walked past a bush Lily found lots of rubbish, so about 5 people went into the bush and came out with even more. Then my glove broke and I could not get any more! I felt sad because there way to much rubbish on the ground! PLEASE DON´T LITTER!

Exploration poster

In He Puna Kawenga we did a poster about sailing the seven seas. First we had to get into groups of 4, the people in my group were Andrea, Jasmine, Yeonsu and ME!! The next thing we did was get into buddy's but you could only buddy up with someone in your group. After you chose your buddy we had to practice making our posters. My buddy was Yeonsu. When we were finished practicing drawing our poster then we were allowed to get a good piece of paper. The writing on the top said..... ¨We want you to explore the world with us to find new land, so if you want to come with us you have to be brave, helpful, responsible and a risk taker¨. When we got our good piece of paper we started to draw our boat, we copied it of a book. Lots of people think only Yeonsu drew the boat but I helped to. The next thing we did was the Taniwha in the corner. The thing we did after was the clouds , then we did the sun and all of the words up the top. When we were finished  we drew the water and then I coloured  it in while Yeonsu coloured the boat in. Then we both coloured everything else in, then we were DONE!!!
